History: Dr. Rui-De Xue discussed with Dr. Major Dhillon, Executive Director of the Society of Vector Ecology about the establishment of the Asian Branch of SOVE for several occasions. In 2009, a group of scientists from China, other Asian countries, and USA discussed about the subject and asked Dr. Xue to coordinate this active. Dr. Xue met several key scientists who work in the field of ecology and control of vectors and mosquitoes in Asian countries to discuss about the subjects and get their inputs about this issue. In May, 2011, a group of scientists from Asian countries had the first committee meeting about the establishment of the Asian Society of Vector Ecology and Mosquito Control (ASVEMC) after the 2nd international forum for surveillance and control of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases, Beijing, China. Dr. Xue announced the committee appointments and recommendation for the ASVEMC officers for committee discussion and votes. Also Dr. Xue informed the committee about the SOVE by-law and procedure and requirement (at least 20 members, providing proposal to the SOVE board and the Board needs to vote) to be a new branch.
